Residents of Mapo-gu District 마포구 report the highest life satisfaction of the capital’s 25 districts, according to a Bureau of Statistics 통계청 study released on April 22. Mapo–gu residents scored their overall satisfaction with life in their residential district at an average of 7.58, outpacing the citywide average of 6.63. The district scored high on walkability, as well as services for pregnant women and mothers of young children.
Dobong-gu District 도봉구 and Dongjak-gu District 동작구 ranked just below Mapo-gu with scores of 7.57 and 7.41 respectively. All three districts are popular with middle- to upper middle-class families with young children. The lowest-scoring district was Gangbuk-gu District 강북구 (5.55), followed by Gwangjin-gu 광진구 (5.77) and Jongno-gu 종로구 (5.78) Districts.
