South Korea’s sharply polarized politics have even affected the friendly skies. According to media reports from April 7, two Korean Air 대한항공 pilots were fired after getting into a fistfight over Yoon Suk-yeol 윤석열’s martial law decree and impeachment at a hotel in Brisbane, Australia where the pilots were laying over.
The fight was serious enough to end with the captain being sent to an emergency room in an ambulance, and the first officer being detained by local police. In addition to the two sanctioned pilots, a third pilot who was at the scene was suspended for three months.
