According to Hankook Research 한국 리서치’s regular quarterly survey released on April 21, Koreans’ approval of the United States has hit the lowest mark since the company began polling in 2018. On a scale of 0 to 100, with 50 being neutral, Koreans rated the US at 44.8, down from 53.9 just one quarter ago, in January.
Hankook Research’s quarterly surveys popular opinion of South Korea’s five major neighboring countries - the US, Japan, China, Russia and North Korea. The US’s record low score was still the highest of the five, with Japan coming in second place at 42.7. Russia and China scored 33.0 and 32.0 respectively, and North Korea was the least favorably viewed, at 28.9.
