According to the latest report from the Ministry of Employment and Labor 고용노동부, the national average monthly salary was KRW 4.22m (USD 2.95k). Seoul 서울 had the highest average wages of any region, with KRW 4.77m (USD 3.34k) per month, followed by the industrial city of Ulsan 울산 with a monthly wage of KRW 4.75m (USD 3.32k). 

Only four localities - Seoul, Ulsan, Chungcheongnam-do Province 충청남도 and Gyeonggi-do Province 경기도 - had monthly wages above the average, while 13 regions were below average, reflecting regional imbalances in well-paying jobs within South Korea. The lowest paying region was Jeju-do Province 제주도, with an average monthly wage of KRW 3.28m (USD 2.3k).
