More than one-third of South Korean adults in the Seoul area (36%) said they have not had sex in more than a year, according to a report by Yonsei University 연세대학교.

The incel trend among South Korea’s young men was confirmed by data, as men in their 20s reported the lowest rate (58%) of having had sex in the past year - lower even than men over 60 years old. (See previous coverage, “Rise of the Incels.”)

Overall, more women opted out of sex than men, as 43% of women said they did not have sex in the past year while 29% of men responded the same. Among those who were celibate for the past year, more than half of the women said they did not have sex because they had no interest. In contrast, more than half of the celibate men said they did not have sex because they had no partner.
