On November 5, two miners were rescued from a zinc mine in Bonghwa, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province 경상북도 봉화 that collapsed on October 26 with seven miners inside. Five of the miners were able to escape in the early stages of the collapse, but the remaining two were trapped 190 meters underground for 221 hours before being rescued.

The two miners, who were veterans aged 62 and 56, survived by setting up a makeshift tent with a tarp, starting a small fire to keep themselves warm, and eating instant coffee mix powder. The miners are in good health, and walked out under their own power after the rescue crew secured their exit.
