A notable development in recent years is the internationalization of election fraud conspiracy theory, with Nazi-saluting Conservative Political Action Committee (CPAC) of the United States hosting panels on election denials in South Korea. (See previous coverage, “The Global Brain Rot Community.”) Coordinating with South Korea’s far-right groups, the so-called “Korea experts” have claimed falsely that China has manipulated South Korean elections to produce liberal victories.

On May 25, a detachment of this Global Brain Rot Community arrived at Seoul, apparently to monitor the June 3 presidential election. The self-appointed election monitors included Morse Tan of Liberty Law School, and Bradley Taylor, Grant Newsham and John Mills of Center for Security Policy. A small crowd of far-right YouTubers and their fans greeted them at the airport, waving South Korean and American flags as well as banners that read “Stop the Steal.”

The National Election Commission 중앙선거관리위원회 denied their request to act as an election monitor. Undeterred, the unofficial election monitors will stay in Seoul until June 5, holding press conferences and round tables with an eye toward publishing a report of their junket.
