According to the new report by the Bureau of Statistics 통계청, South Korea had more than 8m single-member households as of 2024 - the highest since the bureau began collecting the statistic in 2015. Among them, 5.1m households were employed, also highest on record. The trends of marrying late, as well as delaying retirement for the elderly, have contributed to the increase of people living alone across all age groups.
