According to the Airports Council International report for the first half of 2026, the Incheon International Airport 인천국제공항 saw 38.4m passengers in that time period, becoming the world’s busiest airport - the title that previously belonged to the Heathrow Airport in London.
Seoul’s main airport rose as an international hub as the war in the Middle East caused air traffic in Europe to decrease. In addition, the flights that would normally fly through the Middle Eastern hub airports in cities like Dubai were diverted to ICN, contributing to 6.6% year-over-year increase in visitors.
