This summer saw a record number of international tourists visiting South Korea. According to data released September 11 by Trip.com, flights from Spain to Korea increased 146% year-over-year between June 20 and August 31. Other European tourists were similarly enthusiastic, with travel up 122% from Germany, 107% from Italy, 94% from Russia and 75% from Switzerland.
The same data showed a 115% year-over-year rise in reservations to tour Gyeongbokgung Palace 경복궁 and a 34% jump in searches for the National Museum of Korea 국립중앙박불관. (See previous coverage, “National Museum Booms with K-pop Demon Hunters Fans.”)
