A recent survey by the Seoul city government showed that Seoul residents are less bound by traditional family morals.

A strong majority - 60.8% of men, and 58.1% of women - said a man and a woman may live together without getting married. Nearly one-third (31.6% of men and 28.1% of women) said a marriage was not required for a childbirth.

The same survey found that the population of Seoul was 9.79m as of 2Q 2021; 51.4% of Seoul residents are women, and 48.6% were men.
