More than 40% of Korean Population Could be Older than 65 in 2060: Data

According to a recent study by Statistics Korea 통계청, the government body charged with collecting official statistics, 16.5% of the Korean population is older than 65. As South Korea’s birth rate declines, the proportion of the elderly is expected to be as much as 43.9% of the entire population by 2060.

More than one-third of the elderly, or 35.1%, live alone.
