Although the wheels of justice continue to turn in the cases of Yoon Suk-yeol 윤석열 and his cronies, the court of public opinion has already rendered its verdict. In a poll by MBC News, 69% of respondents said that based on all currently available information, Yoon’s martial law declaration on December 3, 2024 was an insurrection.
As to former prime minister Han Deok-su 한덕수 전 국무총리, 40% said he was one of the leaders of the insurrection, and 28% said he enabled the insurrection. A strong majority (60%) believed that People Power Party Floor Leader Chu Gyeong-ho 추경호 전 국민의힘 원내대표 interfered with the legislature’s vote to dissolve the martial law declaration.
