North Korea Forward Deploys Anti-Aircraft Guns to Attack Balloon Launches

South Korea’s intelligence agency detected North Korea’s movement to attack balloons carrying anti-Kim Jong Un 김정은 regime leaflets, as the North Korean military deployed anti-aircraft guns closer to the Military Demarcation Line (MDL) that separates the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ).

North Korean military previously attacked the balloon-launching attempt - largely organized  by North Korean defectors living in South Korea - in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi-do Province 경기도 연천 with an anti-aircraft gun in 2014, which was the last time that North Korean shells landed in South Korean territory.
