In the 2022 annual report from the Seoul National University Institute of Communication Research 서울대학교 언론정보연구소’s SNU Fact Check Center, the Office of the President 대통령실 earned a remarkable distinction: not a single one of its disputed statements was true.

To be sure, a relatively high rate of falsehoods is to be expected, given that the Fact Check Center only considers disputed statements. Nevertheless, out of the 20 disputed statements made by the Office of the President (i.e., presidential staff or spokespersons), a staggering 18 were found to be “false,” and the remaining two to be “half true.”

President Yoon Suk-yeol 윤석열 대통령 did not fare much better: 75% of his statements were found to be falsehoods or half-truths. For disputed statements by Yoon’s cabinet members, the number was 78%; for People Power Party 국민의힘 officials, 72%. On the other hand, 57% of disputed statements made by the opposition Democratic Party 민주당 were considered false or half true, according to the SNU Fact Check Center.
